56-year-old United Kingdom citizen and former Oak Ridge National Laboratory Program Director Andrew Worrall has been sentenced to 235 months—nearly 20 years—in federal prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release, mandatory sex offender registration, and eventual deportation.

Worrall appeared before U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Varlan on August 12, 2026, where he received the sentence after pleading guilty to charges of sexual exploitation of a child and production of child pornography. As part of his plea agreement spanning federal courts in Tennessee and South Carolina, Worrall was also ordered to sell his Farragut home—where the crimes were committed—and forfeit $249,805.29 in property equity.

Case Details

• The Offenses: On July 7 and 8, 2025, Worrall used the Snapchat application to contact two 17-year-old minor females, one in Tennessee and one in South Carolina. Fully aware of their ages, he coerced the victims into sending explicit photographs and videos.

• The Investigation: The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of the Inspector General, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jennifer Kolman (EDTN) and Dean H. Secor (DSC).

• Project Safe Childhood: The prosecution was brought under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources.
