GARTH BROOKS ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND BATTERY

FOX17 WZTV NASHVILLE – Country music superstar Garth Brooks is accused of sexual assault and battery.
FOX 17 News’ Kaitlin Miller spoke with patrons outside of Brooks’ bar and honkytonk, Friends in Low Places, after the news broke on Thursday of the graphic allegations against him.
Most were shocked, saying Brooks has always portrayed a good image. He’s garnered so many fans by being known as a nice guy.
“He seems like a good guy and I’ve seen him like three times in concert,” says one of his fans on Broadway.
Some fans are even questioning the allegations. “That’s crazy I don’t think it’s true,” one fan said.
The complaint goes on to say while Roe was at Brooks’ residence to do his hair and makeup, he came out of the shower naked and forced her to touch him while requesting her to do sex act.
In May of that same year, Roe says that she traveled to Los Angeles with Brooks where he was set to record a Grammy tribute. Brooks booked a hotel suite with only one bedroom for the both of them.
While there, she claims Brooks grabbed her hands, pulled her onto the bed and raped her.
Roe says she could not escape his physical domination.
She points out in the complaint that after it happened, Brooks forced her to continue on with business as usual.
She had to style his hair and do his makeup, like nothing ever happened.
In October of 2019, Roe claims Brooks attempted to rape her again, but this time, she got away.
Roe’s attorney Douglas Wigdor says Brooks filed a preemptive complaint in federal court in Mississippi. Wigdor calls this an obvious attempt at silencing and bullying his client. He says Brooks timed his lawsuit to proceed anonymously after learning of Ms. Roe’s plan to file her complaint in California.
Wigdor says he is confident Brooks will be held accountable for his actions.
FOX 17 News received a statement from Garth Brooks’ team Thursday:
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.
Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another.
We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.
I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
