Gayle D. (Shamblin) Chapman, 88 of Fairfield Glade TN passed away at her home on April 5, 2023. She was born January 31, 1935, in Kenova, West Virginia, the only child of Arthur and Virginia(Plymale) Shamblin. She graduated from Ceredo- Kenova High School and attended Marshall University and went on to work in the banking and medical

industries living in Proctorville, OH. Moving to Fairfield Glade in 1993 to retire with her husband Jim, she enjoyed gardening, golfing, arts and crafts-as well as being involved in several volunteer organizations.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband Jim who passed in

1. She is survived by her only child Vicki (Roach) Dury, and grandsons Joseph

Dury Jr. and Marshall (Melissa) Dury, and great-granddaughters Sadie Dury

and Cora Dury.

Survivors also include stepchildren Brenda Chapman, Kent (Joleen) Chapman,

Jami (Chapman) Craig. Also step-grandchildren Sean Sisk, Kendra (Lance)

Ziebell, Heather Chapman, Cal (Katie) Craig, and Ryan Craig. As well as step-great-grandchildren Justice Sisk, Slade Sisk, Kaitlyn Ziebell, Kyle Ziebell,

Jordan Legassie, and Karlyn Ivey.

She also leaves behind many cousins and friends, longtime family friends and

nurse Beverly Chapman and devoted partner John Thurmond.

The family wishes to thank Cherished Care and Caris for providing wonderful

care to Gayle.

Funeral services are on April 13 at 11 am at Hood Funeral Home with interment to

follow at Crossville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Lung

Association or The American Cancer Society.
