GOV. LEE VISITS SITE OF A.E.S. EXPLOSION AND MEETS WITH FAMILIES OF VICTIMS

On October 12, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee visited Hickman and Humphreys counties, where an explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems (AES) on October 10 claimed 16 lives. During his visit, he met with victims’ families and investigators, pledging support for those affected and efforts to determine the cause of the explosion.
Response operations at the AES site are ongoing, proceeding cautiously due to extensive debris and potential explosive materials, with controlled detonations being conducted to safely dispose of hazardous substances. Multiple agencies, including the Humphreys and Hickman County Sheriff’s Offices, the ATF National Response Teams, and the Fort Campbell Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, are leading the response and investigation.
While there is no known threat to public health, residents are urged to avoid the area and report any debris to local authorities for safe handling.
Emotional support resources, such as the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (988), are available for those affected by the incident.
