GOVERNOR LEE CLARIFIES EXECUTIVE ORDER 83 DIRECTIVES ON COVID-19 VACCINES

Governor Bill Lee’s office has sent a memo to Republican lawmakers addressing “conspiracy theories” and clarifying misinterpretations of the governor’s latest executive order regarding COVID-19 vaccines.

A spokesperson for Lee’s office says it’s in response to concerned members and constituents who have misconstrued Executive Order 83.

Legislative Director Brent Easley said lawmakers have reached out on false information he called “conspiracy theories that are unfortunately being shared as fact.”

Key points of the memo clarify the following items:

  • Executive Order 83 does not create quarantine camps.
  • TN National Guard members will not round up unvaccinated citizens and take them to be quarantined or vaccinated.
  • TN National Guard members will not vaccinate citizens in their homes.
  • Executive Order 83 is not laying groundwork for permanent lockdowns.
  • COVID-19 vaccines are not being given to livestock so it will enter the food supply to vaccinate citizens through meat consumption.

House Speaker Cameron Sexton and 73 House Republicans have officially asked Gov. Lee for a special session to take on “misdirected” COVID-19 mandates. Sexton said last week he would ask for a special session if schools implemented mask mandates, which some in Middle Tennessee school districts have done.
