On August 8, 2024, Victor Everett Jones, age 63, appeared in the Criminal Court of Putnam County with his attorneys where he entered a GUILTY plea to three (3) counts of Rape of a Child.
Jones acknowledged that on three separate occasions, he sexually penetrated a child who was less than 13 years of age. These offenses occurred in the home of Victor Jones. During the investigation, Jones admitted to the crimes disclosed by the victim.
Jones was sentenced to serve 15 years in the custody of the Department of Corrections, to be served at 100%. He will also be listed on the sex offender registry.
After Jones stood and admitted his guilt before Judge Gary McKenzie, the victims gave compelling victim impact statements.
Victor Jones formerly served as the Public Works Director for the City of Algood, TN. He was known by many people in our community. Persons who prey on children are often persons who are in positions of trust, as in the case of Jones.
Please keep these victims in your prayers. Jones’s victims showed great courage to come forward and put a stop to his behavior.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jessica Krebs, a member of the Child Sex Abuse prosecution team of the Office of the Office of the District Attorney General, and thoroughly investigated by Criminal Investigator Randal Slayton, also with the DA’s office.
