A Hamilton County, Tennessee medical examiner says a 4^th grade student at Orchard Knob Elementary School took his own life. The students body was discovered last week in the Avondale community in Chattanooga.

The child reportedly was bullied at the school. Family and friends say his mother tried to reach out to the school for help multiple times but was not able to get it.

The boy’s death left the community stunned, and prompted new scrutiny for counselors in Hamilton County schools.

School officials are looking into the incident.
