On Wednesday afternoon a man died after falling from a boat on Chickamauga Lake. According to a release TWRA officers along with Rhea County Sheriff’s Office, Rhea County Emergency Management, and Rhea County Fire responded to a call for an unresponsive man who fell and was run over by a boat.

TWRA says Hamilton County resident Jordan Matthews, 34 years old,  along with an adult woman and child were boating near the Highway 60 bridge when Matthews fell into the water. They say Matthews was not wearing a lifejacket and was run over by the boat, he sustained several lacerations and was found unconscious. TWRA says people passing by were able to help bring Matthews back into the boat where they tried to revive him. He was transported to Rhea Medical Center where he was declared deceased.
