HARRIMAN POLICE DEPARTMENT WEEK-IN REVIEW 2/17 – 2/23

Monday, 2/17 – On day shift, officers responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the area of Georgia St. and Siluria St.

★ Building Checks: Day Shift – Harriman Utility Board, Lee’s Food Mart, Griffith Family Pharmacy, Roane County Dialysis, South Harriman Baptist Church Office, Christmas Lumber Company, Ridgeview, Gene’s Printing, State Farm, Davis Wedling, Mike’s Barber Shop, Smokin’s Joe’s, McKinney’s, Cochran’s Tax, and Sherwin Williams.

Tuesday, 2/18 – On day shift, officers responded to a three-vehicle accident with multiple injuries at Pine Ridge Rd. and Interstate 40. All injuries were believed to be minor and resulted in no EMS transports. Two day shift officers worked THSO from 6p.m. to 10p.m. on Tuesday, which resulted in five traffic stops, two citations, six warnings, one K9 deployment, and one vehicle search.

★ Building Checks: Day Shift – Sheds 365, Ace Hardware, 429 Nails, Credit Central, and The City Barber Shop.

Wednesday, 2/19 – On day shift, an officer responded to a walk-in report at the police department. The complainant wished to report a possible fraud on a credit application and a report was made for the complaint. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Crestview Ave. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers found that the subject checked okay. An officer transported a female subject to the police department to speak with officers about a domestic disturbance that occurred outside of city limits. Officers responded to an alarm call at a residence on Pansy Hill Rd. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the alarm was set off by accident.

★ Building Checks: UGO, Food City, Gary’s Tires, Unstoppable Auto, Dollar General Market, A1 Tactical, Wheels Towing, Crux Motorcycle, Road Angels, Out of the Attic Antiques, Tattered Peacock, Superlative Vintage Antiques, and Michael K Bookstore.

Thursday, 2/20 – On day shift, officers conducted a traffic stop which resulted in multiple subjects being transported to Roane County Sheriff’s Office where the DTF handled charges against the subjects. Officers responded to the police department for multiple walk-in subjects wishing to speak with an officer for various reasons. Officers were dispatched to Rocky Top near

I-40 for a welfare check on a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found that the driver checked okay. Officers responded to a vehicle accident on Pine Ridge Rd. A report was made for the incident. An officer handled phone traffic concerning an animal complaint on Meadowview Dr. Harriman units assisted Tennessee Highway Patrol with a stolen vehicle at the Marathon gas station on S. Roane St.

★ Building Checks: Dollar General, Cricket Wireless, Yum Yum’s, Vape and Smoke Shop, Shiloh, The Oasis, Eagle Mart, Burger Station, Burger King, McDonald’s, and Walgreens.

Weekend of 2/21 – 2/23 – On day shift of Friday, 2/21, officers were conducting routine patrols in the area of Crescent St. and Siluria St. when they observed a male standing in the traffic way and observed the male staggering and swaying. An officer approached the male to check his welfare and discovered the male was highly intoxicated. Due to the male’s intoxicated state he was found to be an endangerment to himself if left in public. Therefore, the male was placed in custody for Public Intoxication. The male was transported to Roane County Jail without incident. An officer received a call from a Rhea County Deputy in regards to a wanted person out of Rhea County that was possibly staying at the OYO Hotel in South Harriman. It was found that the male had a Felony Failure to Appear out of Rhea County for an original charge for Dangerous Drugs and a few other lesser charges. Multiple Harriman units accompanied two Rhea County Deputies to the OYO Hotel. A Harriman officer located the male and placed him into custody without incident. Custody of the male transferred over to the Rhea County Deputies who transported the male to the Rhea County Detention Facility. On night shift, an officer conducted a traffic stop on S. Roane St. that resulted in an arrest for active Anderson County warrants. An officer responded to the Rocky Top by the bridge in response to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the parking lot. On day shift of Saturday, 2/22, Sgt. Underwood and Sgt. Jones attended the funeral service for Morgan County Sheriff Wayne Potter that passed away February 18th after battling pancreatic cancer. Funeral Honors began at 11:00a.m. and concluded at 6:00p.m. Officers were dispatched to Bojangle’s in reference to a male passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers were able to wake the male and get him out of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers found the male to be under the influence of a narcotic. K9 Izzy was deployed and alerted on the vehicle for illegal narcotics. Officers searched the vehicle and found illegal narcotics within the vehicle. The male was placed in custody and transported to Roane County Jail without incident. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that he observed leaving a known drug location. During the investigation of the traffic stop, the officer removed the occupants from the vehicle and K9 Izzy was deployed and alerted the vehicle for illegal drugs. After a search of the vehicle, drug paraphernalia was recovered from within the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was placed in custody for Illegal Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on a Suspended License, and an outstanding felony warrant for Theft in Roane County. The male was transported to Roane County Jail without incident. An officer responded to a welfare check on a male in the area of Ruritan Rd. and S. Roane St. The officer located the male in a parking lot on his hands and knees. The male could not respond to the officer which resulted in the officer requesting EMS and Harriman Fire, who responded to the scene and concluded the male was having a medical emergency. The male was transported to Roane Medical Center for further care.

On night shift, officers responded to Harriman Gardens in reference to a female having breathing problems. She was later transported to Roane Medical Center by ambulance. An officer encountered a female with an active Roane County warrant at The Oasis gas station. She was placed into custody and transported to Roane County Sheriff’s Office without incident. On day shift of Sunday, 2/23, officers were dispatched to the OYO Hotel for a report of a fight. Roane Dispatch advised a male and female were reportedly physically fighting in the parking lot and were leaving in a vehicle. Upon arrival, an officer located the vehicle at the parking lot entrance and stopped the vehicle. Another officer arrived on scene and identified both parties. The assault/fight was unfounded. It was discovered that the male party had an active warrant in Roane County for a previous drug possession charge. The male was placed in custody for the warrant and was transported to Roane County Jail. Officers were dispatched to Harriman Gardens for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male victim in the parking lot. The male had a large swollen contusion on the left side of his face. The male was assaulted by an unknown male. Officers interviewed several residents that witnessed the suspect leaving, but no one was able to provide the identity of the suspect. The victim was evaluated by the Harriman Fire Department and refused EMS transport. An investigation is being conducted and an officer has requested surveillance footage from Harriman Gardens. Officers responded to Oakdale Hwy. for a report of a downed power pole. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a vehicle had struck the pole, snapping it off approximately three feet above ground. The Harriman Utility Board responded to the scene. The offending vehicle was never located and HUB advised they did not need a report for the damage at the time of the incident. An officer responded back to the scene approximately one hour after the incident to provide traffic control while HUB set a new pole. On night shift, officers responded to a two-vehicle, non-injury accident in the Lowe’s parking lot. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Ruritan Rd. that resulted in an arrest made for Possession of Marijuana. Upon arrival to the jail, the female was searched by jail staff and a large bag of substance, believed to be heroin, was found inside of her. Additional charges are being added to the female for this incident.

★ Building Checks for Friday: Day Shift – Little Caesars Pizza, Toni’s Country Post, Griffith Family Pharmacy, Children’s Hospital Clinic, Mid-east, Pansy Hill Hair Co., United Way, Rick Cox Construction, and Rocky Top by the tracks. Night Shift – Big John’s, Eagle Mart, E2 Sports, D’s Smokehouse, Downtown Pizza, A1 Tactical, and EZ Rentals.

★ Building Checks for Saturday: Day Shift – Kay Mart, Good as New, Loose Threads, Goodwill, Downtown Pizza, The Oasis, Ladd’s Feed & Seed, and the warming center. Night Shift – Laura’s Liquor, Los Primos, Physician’s Plaza, UGO, Smokin’ Joe’s, Annie’s, and Cricket Wireless.

★ Building Checks for Sunday: Day Shift – Shiloh, Rocky Top at the bridge, Big John’s Eagle Mart, Roane Street Grill, Holiday Inn, Goldston’s Liquor, Subway, Valvoline, Kroger Fuel Center, Spirit of Compassion Church, Nellie’s, and Freedom Health CBD. Night Shift – Mariner Insurance, KFC, Ruby Tuesday, Treasure Mee Hunt, Kebo’s Place, Nellie’s, Chase Drugs, Riverfront Park, and El Cantarito.
