HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED FOR PARTS OF EAST TENNESSEE THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING

Heat Advisory Issued for Parts of East Tennessee Through Wednesday Evening

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Heat Advisory for a portion of East Tennessee, including Blount, Rhea, Meigs, Monroe, Roane, Loudon, Anderson, and McMinn counties. The advisory is in effect from 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, through 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 25.

Forecasters warn that heat index values could climb as high as 107 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for those spending extended time outdoors. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those without access to air conditioning.

The NWS urges residents to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors—especially those who may be more sensitive to extreme heat.
