Helen Louise Tollett, 102
Helen Louise Tollett, 102, of Big Lick, Tennessee passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025. Louise was born in Cumberland County on December 21, 1922 to Bert and Amanda Swafford Henry. She was born at the head of the Sequatchie Valley and lived there until she and her husband Creed Tollett bought a farm in Big Lick. They moved to Big Lick in December of 1952 and lived there until she moved into Wyndridge Health and Rehabilitation Facility in 2023.
Louise was an excellent cook, seamstress, gardener, and cared for her community, church, and family. She was a long-time member of Calvary Presbyterian Church of Big Lick.
Louise is survived by her son Lynn Tollett and wife Kathy. Sisters – Violet Scarbrough of Harriman, Mabel Blaylock of Crossville, and Pansy Brown of the Burke community. She was Grandma to six grandchildren, Joe Tollett and wife Shannon, of Lenoir City, Jake Tollett and wife Allison of Pikeville, Lori Myers and husband Caison of Crossville, Sara Rector and husband Cade of Litton, Casi Smith of Crossville, and Ashley Tollett of Crossville. She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Creed E. Tollett, who passed away in 1983. Her son, Stan Tollett. Brothers, Hollis, Leo and Leffle Henry. Brother-in-laws, Fred Scarbrough Jr., Oliver Blaylock, and Willie Brown and sister-in-law Evelyn Henry.
Louise was a beloved Mama, Sister, Grandma, Aunt, and friend. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13th from 1-3pm at Hood’s Funeral with a graveside service directly following at the Wilson Cemetery at the head of the Sequatchie Valley.
