A high-speed pursuit between a trooper and a wanted man ended in eastern Putnam County this morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports a pickup truck driven by 30-year-old Donald L. Lewis was stopped at the 297 eastbound mile marker after Lewis was driving erratic. When the trooper returned to his cruiser to check the driver’s license of Lewis, the suspect took off in his vehicle. Lewis crashed into a rock wall at the exit 300 ramp in Monterey. Officers say Lewis has several warrants in Nashville and will face additional charges stemming from the pursuit.
