HIGH SPEED PURSUIT STARTING ON HIGHWAY 62 ENDS WITH ARREST

A Monterey police officer took a reckless driver into custody following a high speed pursuit on Highway 62 this morning. The vehicle operated by Johnny Dexter Ray Key of Monterey turned onto Muddy Pond Road where he jumped from his truck and fled on foot into a wooded area. Officer Andrew Phillips engaged in a foot pursuit with Key before catching him. A passerby seeing this stopped and helped Phillips until more law enforcement arrived. Key was arrested for evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and driving on a revoked license. He also has holds placed on him for active warrants in Cumberland, Fentress, and Overton County.
