HIGHWAY PATROL INVESTIGATES FATAL VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN MONROE COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated a fatal vehicle accident in Monroe County last night. Sweetwater police saw a van with occupants involved in a domestic disturbance at Walmart. The driver, 29-year-old Elizabeth French of Athens, took off and led authorities on a chase to Madisonville where she collided with a car at the intersection of New Highway 68 and Isabel Road. The van rolled over and caught fire. French was ejected and killed. A passenger, 33-year-old Steven Drayton, was injured. Occupants in the other vehicle, 64-year-old Randy King and 33-year-old Kristopher King, both of Madisonville, were also hurt.
