HUMAN REMAINS FOUND IN MONTEAGLE
Investigators are working to identify human remains found in Monteagle.
TBI agents responded to the 700 block of Trussell Road at the request of 12th Judicial District Attorney General Courtney Lynch and assisted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in recovering the remains.
Authorities say the remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for examination and identification.
The discovery comes after Monteagle Police alerted the community earlier to an investigation involving a deceased person within town limits.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now leading the case, working alongside local law enforcement.
Monteagle Police say on Facebook they understand the situation may cause concern and are asking for patience as investigators work to gather more information.
