INDICTMENTS RETURNED ON FORMER CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

The Clinton Police Department has issued a formal statement regarding Dan Jenkins’s arrest:
“An investigation into a serious head-on collision has resulted in multiple indictments against Daniel Jenkins, 43, following a thorough review by a grand jury.
The crash occurred in the 100 block of Clinch Avenue on 05/31/2025, when Jenkins, traveling northbound, crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle head-on. The investigation revealed Jenkins was intoxicated, distracted by a cell phone, and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle at the time of the crash.On completion of the investigation, the case was presented to the Anderson County Grand Jury, which issued indictments against Jenkins for diving under the influence, reckless endangerment, prohibited uses of wireless telecommunications device, and violation of the open container law.On September 11, 2025, Jenkins surrendered himself to the Anderson County Detention Facility, where he was formally booked on the charges. The case remains pending in the criminal court system. No further information will be released at this time.”
WYSH reports that the Anderson County grand jury has indicted former Clinton High School principal Dan Jenkins on charges including DUI, reckless endangerment, violation of the open container law, and use of a mobile phone while driving, all stemming from an automobile accident he was involved in on May 31, 2025.
Jenkins, who resigned from his position amid last year’s Clinton High School grade-changing scandal that also resulted in the arrests of teacher Clay Turpin and guidance counselor Carrie Jenkins—Dan’s wife—turned himself in at the Anderson County Jail on Thursday, September 11, 2025, where he was booked.
