Interstate is back open.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Interstate 40 West is currently closed near the 299 mile marker in Monterey due to multiple traffic accidents caused by extremely slick road conditions.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution if traveling in the area, as icy or wet surfaces are contributing to hazardous driving.
The closure is in effect as emergency crews respond to the incidents, and authorities recommend seeking alternate routes to avoid delays.
