James Marion Day, 85
James Marion Day, age 85, of Kingston, passed peacefully at home on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Marion was born on July 24, 1940 in Kingston to the late, William & Margaret Day. Marion grew up farming and loved anything to do with heavy equipment. He drove a gas truck for Harriman Oil until he started his own business in excavation. He was known & loved throughout his community.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and had served many years as a deacon at Edgewood Baptist Church. He loved working for & serving the Lord and rarely ever missed a service.
He is preceded in death by his son, Bobby Day; parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Marion is survived by his sweetheart of 61 years, Patsy “Anna Mae” Day; daughters, Carolyn (Doug) Day Lyle and Melissa (Johnnie) Kear; son, Kevin (Donna) Day; grandchildren, Jessica Slaven, Kristin Overton, Seth Kear, Zephran Day, and Corbin Day; 9 great-grandchildren, as well as his bonus daughter, Melissa (Doug) Farr. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Faye Loveday, Alice (Roy) Tate, Christine Lake; and brother-in-law, Joe “Bud” Manis; special nephews, Michael Day and Joe Manis.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. David Bailey, Rev. Jason Brackin officiating. Interment will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Kingston Memorial Gardens with Chaplain LaGrand Lamb presiding.
