JERRY RONALD HIXSON, AGE 66

Jerry Ronald Hixson, age 66, of Ten Mile, passed away November 28, 2019 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was also a member of Watts Bar Church of God. Ronnie was a retired electrician working out of the IBEW Local Union No. 760, where he worked several locations including Georgia Power and TVA.  He also worked for Meigs County Board of Education and The University of Tennessee. He owned and operated Hixson Heating and Air in the late 1980’s and continued this business until early 2000.  He was President of the Ten Mile Dizzy Dean Baseball for more than a decade where he helped many kids learn the sport of baseball.  Ronnie was a very compassionate person, always giving and helping others, never meeting a stranger.  He will be missed by many. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father: Thomas Hixson; father & mother-in-law: Fain and Carrie England; brothers-in-law: Frank England & Bill Wilson; brother & sisters-in-law: James & Opal Enix and Kenneth & Blanche England; nephew: Dan Reed and also several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years: Peggy Hixson of Ten Mile; mother: Wanda Hixson of Ten Mile; sons: Jeromy (Ashley) Hixson of Dayton, Ryan (Callie) Hixson of Knoxville; his grandchildren that he loved more than life itself: Lexie Hixson, Rylan Hixson & Elliott Hixson; brother: Mike (Karen) Hixson of Ten Mile; sisters: Joyce (Bobby) Reed of Ten Mile, Sissie (Don) Puckett of Kingston, Terrie (Vaughn) Walker of Sparta, and Devan Hixson of Comanche, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Joann (Dennis) Reed of Ten Mile and Libby (Larry) Douglas of Ten Mile; brothers-in-law: Bill (Wilma England of Ten Mile, Mike (Robin) England of Ten Mile, James (Judy) England of Decatur, and Jerry (Debbie) England of Decatur; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Kingston with the funeral service following.  Graveside service will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ten Mile. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Ronnie Hixson.
