Jesse L. Reed, 74

Jesse L. Reed age 74 of Grandview, Tennessee died on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.

He was born on October 2, 1949, to the late Stanley and Arthie Edwards Reed and was a lifetime resident of this area. Jesse was a graduate of Spring City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Jesse then worked as an ironworker in the Local #704 for more than 37 years. He loved to farm, build things in his shop, and give his grandchildren rides on his tractors. Jesse liked spending time at the Grandview Coffee Club. He also loved to tell stories and sing. Jesse enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses. He was a member of the McClendon–Garrison American Legion Post #203 where he drove a van to take veterans to hospitals.

Jesse is also preceded in death by their wife Shirley E. Reed, his daughter Christy Reed, his brothers Floyd “Junior” Reed, Ben Reed, Curtis Reed, Arville “Cobb” Reed, William Reed, and his sisters Beulah Cox and Sally Lowery.

Survivors include his grandchildren Chris (Danielle) Armstrong and Jessica (Korey) Gilliam both of Grandview, Tennessee; and his great-grandchildren McKenzie Phipps, Landon Gilliam, Peyton Gilliam, Layken Gilliam, Josie Armstrong, and Theodore Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Baptist Church.
