Robert Ray “Bob” Burkhardt Jr, 76
Robert Ray “Bob” Burkhardt Jr age 76 of Spring City passed on September 27, 2024, after a long battle with lymphoma, passing peacefully with his wife Angie by his side.
He was born on September 19, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was raised in the close-knit community of St. Bernard, surrounded by family and close friendships that lasted his lifetime. He was a graduate of Roger Bacon High School and then completed electrical training, being a proud, lifelong member of IBEW Local 212, serving as an electrician/foreman with Mayers Electric for most of his career. He was a U. S. Army veteran from the Vietnam War era. He and his loving wife, Angie, met in 1974 and married in 1977. They spent 28 wonderful years in Greenhills, raising their daughter, Amy, until he retired in 2005 and they moved to their dream home on the lake in Spring City, Tennessee.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert Ray Burkhardt Sr (Bob) and Doris (nee Wilson) Burkhardt, as well as his son-in-law Steve Hoosier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Angela “Angie” (nee Johnson); his daughter Amy (Hoosier); his siblings – Terry Grant (and Gary), Bill Burkhardt (and Lynn), Don Burkhardt (and Christina), and Carol Burkhardt; his grand-children – Alexandra Mayfield (and Derek) and Kai Hoosier (and Lizziey), and two great grand-sons (Everett Mayfield and Hudson Hoosier), and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather “(Great) Pop-Pop”, and “Uncle Bob” that had a smile and laugh that would fill the room along with telling stories of his adventures growing up and fun times along the way. He will be greatly missed and is loved by so many.
There will be 2 celebration-of-life services. The first was in Spring City, Tennessee on October 12, 2024, at Spring City Methodist Church – visitation from 2:00-3:00 pm with the service following. The second gathering will be in St. Bernard, Ohio on November 9, 2024, at St. Bernard Eagles Hall (lower level) starting at 2:00 pm. There will be no formal service but please feel free to visit anytime from 2:00-5:00 pm to share memories and stories of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Spring City Methodist Church, 245 Church St, Spring City, TN 37381, or Our Daily Bread food pantry, 359 Front St, Spring City, Tennessee 37381 in his memory.
