Joanne Sylvia Kimsey, 90
Vanderwall – Joanne Sylvia Kimsey, age 90 of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away at Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was born in Dayton on July 17, 1934, the daughter of the late Dr. Walter Agnew Thomison and Shirley (Gaskins) Thomison. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Warren Kimsey; her daughter, Elizabeth Kimsey; and her sister, Jeanelle Thomison Spivey.
Joanne was raised in Dayton before moving to Chattanooga, then Cabot, AR, and most recently she has been living in Dickson, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, TTU of Cookeville, and later earned her Master’s degree and became a reading specialist in Tennessee and Georgia. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution Major Jacob Gray Chapter in Jacksonville, Arkansas, for 65 years, was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, enjoyed genealogy and gardening, and most of all she loved her family very, very much. She attended Cabot United Methodist Church in Cabot, Arkansas, until her health declined. She also enjoyed going to Episcopal services with her daughter Joanne.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Joel) Arnold of Dickson; her daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Kurtzbein of Cassville, Missouri; her grandson Dr. James (Sonia) Williams of Kingman, Arizona; her two great-granddaughters, Nova Elsie Williams and Maya Williams; and her special cousin, Pat Guffey of Dayton.
A private family graveside funeral service is planned for Joanne at Rhea Memory Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and daughter with Father David Yancey officiating.
