Joe Runkles, age 81, of Harriman, passed away April 28, 2021. He was born April 3, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. Joe was an avid coin, lighthouse, and ship collector and was very proud of his collections. He worked as a truck driver his whole life, last working for Total Transportation. He was preceded in death by his father: James Runkles; mother: Othea Estep; stepmother: Altonia Runkles; sister: Gwen Boatwright; and brother: Jim Runkles. He is survived by his wife: Mary Runkles; children: Teresa, Vicky, Tina, Tonia, Valerie, Joe Jr, Jonathan, Betty Mae, and Eddie; stepson: Ted Doherty Jr; brothers: Chuck Runkles and Kurt Runkles; sister: Jane Runkles; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; along with several other nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 4 until 6 p.m. eastern at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Memorial service will follow. Evans Mortuary is serving the family.
