JOHN LODGE, SINGER AND BASSIST OF THE MOODY BLUES, PASSES AWAY AT 82

John Lodge, the singer and bassist of the British rock band The Moody Blues for over 50 years, passed away at the age of 82, his family announced with deep sadness. Lodge, who joined the band in 1966 alongside Justin Hayward, died suddenly and unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones and the music of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.
Born in Birmingham, he contributed to some of the band’s most iconic works, including the 1967 psychedelic concept album Days of Future Passed and its 1968 follow-up In Search of the Lost Chord. Lodge also played on the band’s 1977 pop-oriented album Octave and their final studio album, December, a collection of Christmas songs released in 2003. The Moody Blues performed live until 2018, the same year they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
