JONESBOROUGH – Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kalyna Laraye Young, 21, with Attempted First Degree Murder, Felony Reckless Endangerment, Driving Under the Influence, and Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Young drove into Boone Lake with her two-year-old in the car. Witnesses pulled both Young and her toddler out of the car shortly before deputies arrived on the scene. Information obtained during the investigation indicates that Young intentionally drove her car into the lake. Deputies took Young into custody and transported her to the Washington County Detention Center where she is being held without bond. She will make her first appearance in court at 1:30 p.m., Aug. 12. The toddler was released to the custody of a family member.
