JOSEPH DANIELS MURDER TRIAL CONTINUES AFTER TESTIMONY FROM JOE CLYDE’S BROTHER

Joe Clyde Daniels older brother testified in Dickson County court yesterday Joseph Daniels threatened to kill him after he attacked Joe Clyde.

Alex Nolan was 8 years old when Joe Clyde went missing. He is the biological son of Krystal Daniels and lived with his mom and Joseph Daniels. He is now 11 years old and resides with other family members.

Alex stayed in the same bedroom as Joe Clyde. He said in court Joseph Daniels came into the room and beat Joe Clyde after the 5-year-old peed on the floor. Alex said he went back to sleep but was woken by a loud bang and saw his younger brother on the floor.

Alex said that is when Joseph Daniels threatened to kill him. Alex added he went back to sleep and when he woke up, Joseph Daniels told him Joe Clyde ran off.

In a video interview played by the defense attorney, Alex was questioned two days after Joe Clyde disappeared by a Child Advocacy Center investigator with a different story. Alex then said he lied for Joseph Daniels because he did not want him to get in trouble.

Two interviews Alex did with the Child Advocacy Center days after his brother’s disappearance were also heard in court on Monday.

In the video interviews, Alex began to talk more with a therapy dog with him. He said he’s happy his dad is in jail and he no longer has custody of him. He also stated he got away from the evil.

Joseph Daniels reported Joe Clyde missing April 4, 2018. He initially told authorities the boy had escaped from the family’s home. During a four-hour recorded confession, Joseph Daniels admitted to fatally beating his son, who had autism and was non-verbal, then dumping his body off a bridge into the water.

The attorney for Joseph Daniels said the confession, which was later recanted, was coerced. A judge later determined it could be used as evidence during the trial.

The body of Joe Clyde Daniels has never been found.

The trial continues today (Tuesday, June 8, 2021).
