KNOX COUNTY MAYOR HOPES TO WOO AMAZON
Now that Amazon.com has pulled the plug on locating their HQ2 in New York, at least one county in Tennessee is courting Jeff Bezos.
In a Saturday-morning tweet, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said, “The #KnoxCounty area is located at the intersection of 2 major interstates, has a very capable workforce, great sports, entertainment, and outdoor recreation, and world-class higher education and R&D facilities. And we LOVE business and jobs!!”
Jacobs’ tweet also included a gif of Taylor Swift, who also calls Tennessee home.
The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce had previously put in a proposal to be the locale for Amazon’s secondary headquarters. No word yet from Bezos as to whether he’s considering Jacobs’ offer this time around.
