This morning at around 10:30 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers and FBI Special Agents responded to a reported armed robbery at the Regions Bank located at 2901 Essary Drive. Based on the preliminary investigation, a male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller and displayed a firearm while demanding money. The teller complied with those demands and the suspect fled from the bank in a vehicle. Responding officers saturated the area in an effort to locate the suspect but were unsuccessful.

Based on witness descriptions and the preliminary investigation, the suspect is a male of unknown race between 5’9-6’0 and 200-250 pounds wearing a clear poncho and a dark sweatshirt.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
