KNOXVILLE POLICE SHOOT AND KILL MAN DURING ENDANGERED CHILD ALERT RESPONSE
Earlier today, we reported that Knoxville Police Department officers responded to an Endangered Child Alert at the North Park Apartments on Tillery Road near Merchant Drive. More information has since been released.
Upon entering an apartment around 10:30 a.m., shots were fired, resulting in an officer shooting and killing a man at the scene.
No officers were injured.
The child who was the subject of the alert was located safe at the location. Although police did not explicitly confirm the child’s identity or their relationship to the deceased man, the timing aligned with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announcing that 15-year-old Isabella Hurlburt—who had been the subject of a missing/endangered alert issued earlier (last seen January 22)—had been found safe.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now handling the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
