LADY RAIDER SOFTBALLER NAMED TO ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

RSCC – Roane State sophomore Alexis Morrison has been named TCCAA first team all-conference. She was one of only 14 conference players selected for first team honors.

Morrison batted .420 overall this season and .452 in conference play, driving in 54 runs and hitting 10 home runs. The infielder posted an impressive .977 fielding percentage also on a team-high 257 total chances.

In Roane State’s opening series this season, Morrison hit a double that set the tone for her accomplishments over the next few months. In that game, she rocked a double against Central Alabama State that drove in three runs and put the Raiders on top for the victory.

“We couldn’t have asked for as better leader than Alexis,” said Marty McDaniel, head coach of Roane State Softball. “She helped set the standard for the team this spring, and that pursuit of excellence has continued into the post-season.”

Morrison’s leadership on the field and in the dugout propelled the Raiders to a winning conference record and a 5th seed in TCCAA Appalachian District Softball Tournament.

“We love to see our Lady Raiders recognized at the state level and this honor is certainly well-deserved,” said David Lane, Roane State’s director of athletics. “Alexis has been such a motivating force for this team. We are always a little sad to see our sophomores walk off the field for the final time as Raiders, but we know she is going to do even more great things.”
