LISTERIA OUTBREAK IN PASTA MEALS KILLS SIX, HOSPITALIZES 25
A deadly multistate listeria outbreak linked to recalled precooked pasta meals has claimed six lives and hospitalized 25 others, according to the FDA. First reported in June, the outbreak has been traced to pasta supplied by Nate’s Fine Foods, leading to widespread recalls of ready-to-eat dishes sold under major brands at retailers including Kroger, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Giant Eagle, and Sprouts. Cases have been confirmed across 18 states, including California, Florida, Texas, and Virginia.
The FDA is urging consumers to immediately discard any recalled products from their refrigerators and freezers. Affected items include FreshRealm’s Home Chef Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo and Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce, Albertsons Companies’ store-made deli pasta salads, Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo, Demer Food Group’s Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguini Bowls, Kroger deli bowtie and penne pasta salads, and smoked mozzarella pasta salads from Giant Eagle and Sprouts Farmers Market.
The FDA’s investigation remains ongoing, with a strong warning against consuming or serving any pasta salads or meals containing the implicated precooked pasta.
