Mrs. Liza Mabeline (Groce) Cowan of Albany, Kentucky, passed away at her residence in Albany, Kentucky on, Thursday, October 18, 2024, having attained the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 19 days. She was born in Albany, Kentucky on Wednesday, January 28, 1943, the daughter of James Bates & Ruby Elizabeth (Norris) Groce. She was of the Methodist faith, was a home maker, and enjoyed sewing, and crafting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Cowen, whom she wed on Friday, August 18, 1961, siblings, Clifton Groce, Arnold Groce, Madell Shelton, Ann Shelton, Wanda Brown, Darlene Irwin, and grandson, Jacob Daley.

She is survived by her children, Polly Cowan of Smithville, Tennessee, Dorthy Brown of Monticello, Kentucky, Becky Thacker of Cookeville, Tennessee, Barbara Cowan (& William Sands) of Byrdstown, Tennessee, Michelle (& Robert) Dishman of Monticello, Kentucky, Nancy Cowan of Smithville, Tennessee, John (& Tammy) Cowan of Byrdstown, Tennessee,  Helen Fields (& Peter Fields) of New Zealand, Susan (& Larry) Johnson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Sarah Tompkins of Byrdstown, Tennessee, and Robert Cowan of Cookeville, Tennessee, 29 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home, with Bro. Kenny Neal officiating. The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. C.S.T. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, until 9:00 p.m. C.S.T., and again on Wednesday morning beginning at 6:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Cowan Family Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky.
