LON MEE BRIDGE TO REMAIN OPEN WITH ONE-MUX TRAFFIC AMID ONGOING CONSTRUCTION
Dudley Evans of BBB Communications reports that, despite initial city concerns and a push for closure, the Lon Mee Bridge over the Emory River will remain open to motorists while construction continues.
Following Tuesday night’s Harriman City Council meeting and discussions with Mayor Wayne Best, officials clarified that the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) holds the authority to override the city’s closure request. Instead of shutting down the bridge completely, traffic will be restricted to one lane at a time, managed by traffic signals at both ends.
