A Loudon Countian recently found himself in a scary situation after being thrown from his canoe below the Melton Hill Dam. He later stated he was trapped clinging to his canoe in the middle of powerful currents after the dam unexpectedly opened releasing water. EMA Dive Team member Brian Smith, who is also a corporal with the sheriff’s office, responded and deployed a rescue watercraft. Smith was able to safely rescue the stranded fisherman.
