LOW RISK OF SEVERE STORMS SATURDAY
The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a weather outlook for Saturday, December 28, 2024, highlighting a low risk of severe storms across Middle Tennessee. While widespread severe weather is not expected, showers and thunderstorms could bring damaging straight-line winds, and there remains a slight possibility of a tornado. The chance of flooding rains is considered low.
The primary window for storm activity is expected during late Saturday afternoon and evening. The first line of storms is forecasted between 4 PM and 9 PM, with this period posing the greatest threat. A second line of storms may develop later in the evening, from 11 PM to 4 AM overnight. The main area of concern lies south of Interstate 40 and west of Interstate 65, where strong winds and isolated severe weather could occur.
Residents are advised to have a safety plan in place and know where to go should severe weather develop. The National Weather Service urges everyone to stay informed by monitoring updates throughout the weekend. Although the overall risk is categorized as “Slight” (Level 2 of 5), preparedness remains essential. Damaging winds are the primary concern, though the possibility of a tornado cannot be ruled out.
