In Madisonville, Tennessee, a 50-year-old man named Gerald Poff has been charged with first-degree murder following an eight-month investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Madisonville Police Department.

The investigation began after deputies responded to a shooting on January 30 at a home located at 204 Highway 72 East, where they found 29-year-old Dennis Jenkins Jr. with a gunshot wound to the head. Jenkins was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Both Poff and Jenkins resided at the same Monroe County home. After consulting with the district attorney’s office, detectives issued a warrant for Poff’s arrest, and he has been booked into the Monroe County Jail on the murder charge.
