MAJOR METH INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN MONROE COUNTY
A major drug investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division resulted in multiple arrests following the execution of search warrants in Tellico Plains and Sweetwater. On Monday, March 30th, agents searched a residence in the Union Grove Road area of the Reliance community in Tellico Plains, where they seized a large quantity of methamphetamine, marijuana, packaging baggies, digital scales, and a significant amount of U.S. currency.
Evidence from that location quickly led investigators to a second search in the Windsong Road area of Sweetwater, where they recovered additional large amounts of methamphetamine, a felony quantity of psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, scales, packaging materials, cash, items used for drug ingestion, and several high-powered firearms.
The investigation then led to the arrest of a male suspect in the Mount Vernon area of Tellico Plains, who had a lengthy history of methamphetamine distribution charges and was wanted on multiple warrants; he was found in possession of methamphetamine, scales, baggies, and cash at the time of his arrest.
In total, three individuals, who are unnamed by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, were taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail. They face charges including two counts of conspiracy to possess Schedule II methamphetamine for resale, three counts of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine for resale, possession of Schedule I psychedelic drugs, two counts of maintaining a drug dwelling, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of violation of probation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
