Rockwood police, fire first responders and an ambulance were sent to an address on the 700 block of Bates Street around 3 p.m. Wednesday, where a man had accidentally shot himself in the leg.

The unidentified man in his mid 30s was flown to U.T. Medical Center with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Sources say he had loaded a 9mm handgun and was putting it into his pocket when the gun went off.
