MAN ARRESTED AFTER CHASE STARTING IN ROCKWOOD ENDS IN KNOX COUNTY

BBBTV12 – One man remains in custody at the Roane County Jail following an arrest by Rockwood police officer Jacob Cunningham in Knox County back on January 25th. A pursuit started from Delosier Lane in Rockwood and went all the way to Watt Road in Knox County before the vehicle was stopped after smashing into a Loudon County Sheriff’s Department vehicle which was joining the pursuit.

Jacob Cunningham’s report indicated that Leland Wayne Tipton Jr was the driver who would not stop after he initiated his blue lights around the Roane State Highway Delosier Lane. The subject Leland Wayne Tipton Jr was taken into custody and charged with a flurry of charges including, reckless endangerment, evading, driving on a suspended license, tampering with evidence, aggravated kidnapping, possession of drug paraphernalia including fentanyl, and several other charges.

After the collision, he was transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville to be checked out after saying he swallowed some of the narcotics. He then after being released was taken to the Roane County jail where he remains today.

A passenger in the vehicle Emily Orr stated to Officer Cunningham she wanted him to pull over as she was scared but was arrested. She also had an outstanding warrant and was taken to jail as well. She was recently released on bond, but Leland Wayne Tipton Jr remains in jail as of now.

Cunningham stated in the report that he noticed the car Tipton was driving had an illegal plate on it, thus the reason he was attempting to stop the car.
