MAN ARRESTED AT CIRCLE K WITH FENTANYL

On Wednesday, Officer Corey Freeman of the Crossville Police Department was patrolling the area near Circle K gas station when he observed a maroon Nissan sitting at the pumps. The officer noticed the passenger was leaning all the way back and didn’t want to be seen, so he paced the car going 46 mph in a 35 mph zone on Highway 127 north.
The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the occupants inside. He noticed that the passenger wouldn’t look at him and appeared very uneasy. He gave the officer the name Derrick Turner, but a check through dispatch returned a photo of a person who did not match that name.
He was asked to step out of the car and when the officer opened the door he reached over to his left side with an open knife that fell out of his hand. He attempted to grab it, and Officer Freeman stopped him and detained him in handcuffs.
He gave consent to the officer’s search, and nothing illegal was found on his person. However, a credit card with the name Christopher Turner on it was found. Dispatch turned up a parole violation out of Nashville and multiple manufacture, sale, and delivery charges.
Once I didn’t take, it multiple ripped bags were found where he was sitting containing fentanyl. A strip search of Turner revealed a black kit on his beltline with three empty syringes, and multiple bags containing an unknown residual orange substance. In his back pockets were a bag holding two marijuana roaches and a small bag of marijuana totaling 1.70 g.
Turner was served his parole violation, charged with tampering and introduction into a penal facility. During the search performed on his phone, messages of him and other subjects talking about sale and buying of narcotics were found.
