MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI DURING LAST WEEK’S SNOWFALL

On Friday last week, Lieutenant Dustin Lester responded to a call where a subject in a black jeep was playing loud music and had a gun in the parking lot of Vapor Choice.

Upon arriving the black Jeep was found at the back of McDonald’s which then went around to the north side. Officers drove towards the Jeep, which was spinning, and found it traveling back towards them.

Officer Freeman initiated his blue lights to conduct the traffic stop and the Jeep continued past. That’s when Lieutenant Lester got out of the vehicle and ran after the Jeep on foot.

As the Lieutenant got close and began hitting the back window, the Jeep wasn’t stopping. He then ran up to the driver’s window and hit it, and the Jeep began to park.

The Lieutenant then made contact with the driver identified as Gustavo Trejo Jr, and upon making contact the Lieutenant could immediately smell the owner of alcohol.

Trejo denied drinking anything it was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform a preliminary breath test. The PBT readout measured .14 BAC, well above the legal limit.

Due to the snow and weather, further field sobriety tests were not performed for the sake of Trejo’s safety. Instead, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Justice Center where a search warrant was applied for his blood.

He was transported to the Justice Center for booking where he was also found to have a suspended license. As a result, he was charged with DUI and DOS.
