MAN ARRESTED FOR SUSPICION OF DUI AFTER CRASH IN ROANE COUNTY

Early Sunday morning, a Roane County deputy was dispatched to New Midway/ Holder Ford Road Kingston for an accident with no injury. Central Dispatch advised there was a vehicle off the road way against a pole, with no one around.

A witness told deputies a “stocky male” approached him and said he had run off the road, then departed on foot, toward Chandley Road.

Another deputy found 38-year-old Jameson Brad Hope on Chandley Road and drove him back to the scene of the crash. He had an odor of alcohol on his person, was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, his pants were visibly wet and he had scratches on his face.

Hope said he ran off the road and got his vehicle stuck in the mud, then walked through the woods and fell in a creek. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests. He indicated he would not lie and he had been drinking and could not complete the task.

There was probable cause to believe Hope was operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. Hope was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to the Roane County Detention Facility. Hope has subsequently been charged with DUI and violation of the Implied Consent law. He was given warning citations for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to maintain a lane of travel and failure to provide immediate notice of accident.
