LENOIR CITY, TN- Around 8:45 PM Friday night, first responders were dispatched to Lenoir City High School after reports of a shooting.

According to officials, a man who was attending the Lenoir City High School graduation was illegally carrying a gun on school property, when it accidentally fired, and he shot himself in the thigh.

The bullet struck a femoral artery causing significant blood loss, and the man has since passed away.

His identity has not yet been released. Lenoir City Police continues to investigate the incident.
