MAN DRUNK ON 13 BEERS IS ARRESTED AFTER TRYING TO GIVE THE REST AWAY
Yesterday, Officer Gage Gunnels of the Crossville Police Department was dispatched to Executive Drive at around 11:30 a.m.
The caller asked that an individual named Anthony Joe Fields be banned from the property. The caller claimed Fields was sitting inside of his blue Chevy Equinox drinking alcohol while it was running and attempting to hand out bottles of alcohol to other people.
When the officer arrived, Fields turned his vehicle off and held the key in his right hand. He was asked to exit the vehicle, and while doing so he was observed to be stumbling around and had bloodshot eyes. A beer bottle could be seen in his cup holder with multiple bottle caps on the floorboard on the driver’s side.
When asked to perform sobriety tests, Fields said he had already been charged with a DUI and refused to perform them. The officer observed a total of 13 beers consumed with a half-empty glass bottle in the cup holder, four empty aluminum cans in the passenger floorboard, and eight empty glass bottles inside a 24-count box with approximately 10 unopened bottles remaining.
Fields was taken to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office where a search warrant was granted for his blood. Fields would have his blood drawn by the Crossville Fire Department since he said he was not going to let his blood be taken. He was placed inside a restraint chair by correctional staff for the potential of him being violent toward anyone taking his blood.
This incident marks Fields’s second DUI offense, having been charged with another one back on November 12th.
