MAN FIRES AT DRONES DURING MENTAL HEALTH STANDOFF IN BRADLEY COUNTY

In Northeast Bradley County near Urbane Road, what began as a routine medical assistance call escalated into an armed standoff when the man being helped became combative and forced first responders to withdraw, turning the incident into a mental health crisis.
Bradley County Sheriff’s deputies and Cleveland police used a drone to deliver a cell phone to the residence so the Crisis Negotiation Team could communicate with him. During negotiations, the man fired shots at the drones, according to authorities. After an extended period, he ultimately surrendered peacefully and was transported to a hospital for medical and mental health treatment.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and states that decisions on potential criminal charges will be made upon completion of the investigation.
