MAN VIOLATES BAN ORDER TO STEAL ALCOHOL, CHIPS, AND COOKIES

On Tuesday, around 8:33 p.m., Officer Amy Sherill of the Crossville Police Department was called to the Speedway on West Avenue about a man in Black clothing with a scruffy shaggy beard entering the store and stealing alcohol.
While speaking with employees, they said they were unsure what type of alcohol had been stolen as they were unable to see the theft on security camera footage. The manager said they only wished for the man to be banned from the location at that time, but Officer Sherill advised the manager and employees to call back should the man return.
A little less than an hour later, the man returned. This time, stealing cookies and a bag of chips. Patrol Officer Freeman spoke with employees who told him they were not sure if they could charge him for theft as per the company’s policy but they would still like him banned from the store.
Officer Amy Sherill made contact with a man after observing him walking between the MDS Incorporated parking lot and the Speedway. The man was identified as Casey Blake Hamby, Officer Sherill observed an alcoholic odor on him, with bloodshot watery eyes, unsteady movements, and a small cut above his right eyebrow with what appeared to be the parts of a twig inside the wound.
Hamby admitted to having two alcoholic drinks but denied taking anything from the speedway. After a search, no store merchandise was located on him.
Dispatch confirmed that Hamby had already been banned from Speedway back on February 13th. Hamby had knowingly entered the speedway when it had been communicated to him that he was no longer allowed on the property.
Hamby was placed into arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with public intoxication and criminal trespassing.
