The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office today arrested a wanted fugitive.

Officers say 22-year-old Ashton Cole Sensing admitted to getting upset with a 2-year-old child he was in the care of.

Law enforcement says Sensing threw the child into a wall and hit the child making him unresponsive.

The boy suffered a major traumatic brain injury. The injuries were also classified as non-accidental blunt trauma.

The child died on December 5, 2023.

Sensing went on the run.

On December 7, 2023, Detective Sergeant Haworth obtained a first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse warrant for Sensing.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received information today that Sensing was at a Dollar General on West Broad Street in Cookeville. He was taken into custody.
