MAN WHO JUMPED ONTO, FELL OFF SEMI ON I-40 IN NASHVILLE DIES

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said a man has died after jumping onto a moving semi Monday night.

MNPD says the man, now identified as 41-year-old Steven Carney from Joelton, for reasons unknown, was trying to stop vehicles on I-40 before he hopped onto the passenger side of a tractor-trailer on I-40 west at 28th Avenue.

The man hung onto the side mirror and was trying to open the passenger door of the truck, prompting the driver to drive off since he was in fear and did not know the man’s intentions.  While driving between 15 and 30 mph, the man either jumped or fell off the truck near Bellevue.
