MARYVILLE OFFICER INJURED DURING VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE MOTORCADE ESCORT

On Friday evening in Maryville, Tennessee, a serious crash occurred during a security motorcade escorting Vice President JD Vance, involving a Tennessee Highway Patrol cruiser and a Maryville Police Department motorcycle officer.
Maryville Police Officer Justin Brown, who was part of the dignitary protection detail, sustained critical injuries in the collision at East Lamar Alexander Parkway and Merritt Road. Bystanders at the scene immediately provided life-saving aid, which Police Chief Tony Crisp credited with saving Brown’s life, calling them “true heroes.”
Officer Brown was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition and underwent surgery Saturday morning. The involved THP trooper was evaluated by paramedics at the scene and did not require further treatment. Chief Crisp expressed gratitude for widespread prayers and support for both Officer Brown and the trooper, while the Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
