MEIGS COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL PLACED UNDER LOCKDOWN

Around 9:30 a.m. today (September 11, 2019) Meigs Middle School was placed in a lockdown because of information that a gun shot was heard outside near the campus. The physical education class was outside during this time having class when they heard the sound and immediately returned inside the building. Law enforcement responded quickly to the school.

Upon investigation NO gunman was located at or near the campus. Construction and utility work is currently taking place very close to the school, which may have created the alarming sound.

At no point were students in immediate danger and no one was injured as a result of this event.
